Good morning!! I hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weekend!
This week in curriculum:
In math we are finishing up learning about fractions today, and taking a short quiz over them tomorrow. The study guide will come home tonight. On the quiz students will be asked to name fractions, find equivalent fractions, compare fractions and order fractions. Then we will begin our unit on measurement. We will begin learning about linear measurement. This will include learning how to measure with a ruler, understanding inches, feet, yards, and miles. We will also learn how to convert those measurements.
In English Language Arts, we are continuing to learn about Close Reading and using R.A.P.P for constructed response questions. We are finishing up with Main Idea and Supporting Details and moving on to understanding how to compare and contrast ideas, stories, and poems. In writing we have finished up sharing our Historical Informational Stories and are going to begin working on grammar skills and writing mechanics. Their Historical Informational stories will come home with them today. We will begin to work on word study as well. We will be studying words such as their, they're, and there, and when to use them. We will also be working on skills such as how to correctly punctuate dialogue and capitalize proper nouns. This week is a B week for writer's notebooks. They should turn in on Friday with 12 entries.
