Welcome back from a wonderful weekend! I hope you all enjoyed it! This Friday is the final day of first quarter. Our class has worked so hard and learned so much this year already! Friday is also a half day. Students will be dismissed at 11:50. Tuesday night is P’sghetti’s Night fundraiser. If you are free for dinner on Tuesday, please try to stop by and eat at P'sghetti's to help benefit Sappington. We will also have an author's visit on Thursday, October 17th.
This week in curriculum:
We are continuing to learn about strategies to help us solve multiplication and division problems through 12's. Your child should be using a strategy to help them solve until they can memorize their facts. A great website they all enjoy for multiplication practice is multiplication.com. We will also be learning about multiplication properties and solving word problems with multiplication and division. We will take our chapter 8 quiz next Monday, October 21st.
In communication arts, we are continuing to draft and revise our realistic fictional narratives. We are studying the way that authors use leads to revise our own leads. We are also studying the way author's use dialogue to show action for a character and revising and editing our dialogue. In reading we are continuing to work on making inferences. We are going to begin looking at making inferences in poetry this week.
Have a great week!
