Good morning! I hope you all had a nice, relaxing weekend, and enjoyed your extra day off. Thank you to everyone who helped with the Valentine's Party. I know the kids truly enjoyed themselves.
I am very excited to let you all know we are getting a new member to our classroom today. His name is Case. I look forward to seeing all of our students welcome him.
Prism is this week on Thursday. If your child is participating, please make sure to get the prism in for checking as soon as possible.
This week in curriculum:
In math, we are finishing up our unit on multiplication. We are reviewing processes for 2x2 digit multiplication and we will take our Unit 4 test on Thursday. We will review it on Friday. Study guides will come home today and will be due Thursday morning. We will begin division next week.
In English Language Arts, we are finishing up our unit on Figurative Language. We are continuing to work on close reading and answering constructed response questions. We will then begin learning how to find the main idea of a piece of reading, and how to prove that it is the main idea using supporting details. In writing we are continuing to work on our Informational Nonfiction Books. We are beginning chapter 4, which is writing an essay about why the subtopic is important to the revolutionary war. We are going to pick back up with Writer's Notebooks this week. Students should write 5 minutes each night, and A-week writers should turn in notebooks on Friday with 9 entries. We also have our spelling test this Friday. Tic Tac Toes are due Friday morning.
I hope you all have a wonderful week!
