This week in curriculum:
In math we are continuing to learn about customary measurement. We are focusing on converting measurements. Students will learn how to convert inches, feet, yards, and miles. They will also learn the units for capacity. Students will learn how to convert cups, pints, quarts, and gallons. We will also learn how to convert weight between ounces, pounds, and tons. We will take a quiz on Thursday. The study guide will come home on Tuesday and will be due on Thursday. Look for anchor charts later on.
In English Language Arts we are continuing to learn about close reading and constructed response. We have two weeks before the MAP test begins. We also will be learning about fact and opinion and how to distinguish between the two. We will also study sequencing to see how the events flow in a story. In writing we are finishing up our work on homophones. They will be taking an assessment tomorrow in class. Students have learned the following words, and will be asked to use them correctly in a story. These are the homophones learned: Their, They're, There, Its, It's, Our, Hour, Are, Your, You're, Two, Too, and To. This is a C-week for writer's notebooks. C-week notebooks are due on Friday with 12 entries. We will begin working on mechanics lessons later this week.
