Good morning! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed Spirit Fest at Lindbergh.
This week in curriculum:
In math we are continuing to learn about decimals. We are learning how to round, add, and subtract decimals and money. Our quiz will be on Wednesday this week. The study guide will come home today. Anchor charts will be up later today as well, so check back for them! Then we will learn how to add and subtract fractions with like denominators.
In English Language Arts, we are continuing to work on our plays. Reading Recommendation projects were due today, so don't forget to use edmodo.com to help come up with a list for summer reading. We will be preforming our plays on Thursday or Friday this week, so all props need to be completed by Thursday. They will have class time to work on this. In writing we are continuing our work on learning to write a literary essay. This week we are learning how to use book quotes and mini-stories to support our thesis statements. Last week was the last week for writer's notebooks. Students can continue to write each night if they choose, but I will not be collecting notebooks for the remainder of the school year.
This week in events:
We are going to begin The Fun Days of May! We will reveal what each fun day is before students leave each day. Also this Friday is Read-a-thon! We will be reading from 2:15-3:15 that afternoon! We have to return all library books this Thursday, so please send your child with something to read Friday. They can also borrow from our classroom library.
Have a wonderful week!
