This week in curriculum:
In math, we finished up Unit 3 last week. We are going to review their tests today, so you will see them coming home with your child this afternoon. On Tuesday, we are going to begin a new unit, Geometry. I am very excited to begin this fun unit with students. We will begin learning about chapter 17, lines and angles. This unit is very fun for students, because Geometry is all around us. We will do several scavenger hunts with this unit. We will also continue to work on fact practice in our centers.
In English language arts, we are continuing to learn about making inferences in fiction stories. This will help students transfer this skill to their own reading. We will also begin introducing book clubs. We are completing our first fourth grade piece of writing this week! I am so excited to show you their final products. We will also use some writing time for students to share their final products with each other. I am hoping to send these pieces of writing home to you by the end of the week. Spelling lists will be stapled into planners today as well. Our test will be three weeks from now on Friday, November 22nd.
