Updates!

Good morning!  I hope you all had a nice weekend.  We are beginning this morning with a Veteran's Day assembly at 9:00.  Students should wear red, white, and blue.  We also have early release on Wednesday.  Students will be dismissed at 1:40.  Character club will meet on this day, and get their t-shirts.  If your child is in character club, make sure to check the blog Wednesday to see the pictures.  http://sappingtoncharacter.blogspot.com/

This week in curriculum:
In math, students are continuing to learn about Geometry.  They are going to be taking their Chapter 17 quiz on Wednesday.  It will cover the following: points, lines, rays, line segments, angles, acute angles, right angles, obtuse angles, straight angles, parallel lines, perpendicular lines, intersecting lines, following directions and coordinate grids.  This unit is very heavy in the vocabulary, so feel free to practice it at home, by sending them on scavenger hunts to look for types of lines, or angles.  We are learning about coordinate grids today.  Your child can remember this by thinking, you have to walk over to the mountain, before you can climb up the mountain.  Study guides will come home today, and will be due on Wednesday.

In English Language Arts, students are continuing to learn about making inferences in fiction stories.  We will begin making inferences in nonfiction stories next week.  In writing, students are finishing sharing stories and celebrating their writing this week.  We will begin our new unit at the end of the week, which is Opinion writing.  We are continuing to work on our spelling rules this week, with the test next Friday.

In science students are learning about ecosystems.   In social studies students are learning about Missouri's culture.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions!  Have a great week!
