Academic All-Stars - If you were contacted about your child being an academic all-star, the ceremony is tonight. Students who will be recognized should be at the LHS auditorium, Monday night at 5:45. The presentation begins at 6:00. Academic All-Stars is a wonderful celebration of those students who have achieved a level of proficiency on the MAP tests.
Message from SPTG:
Dear Sappington parents and students,
A wonderful book is going to be offered at Sappington's book fair that I wanted you all to know about.
The name of the book is GOODNIGHT ST LOUIS, by June Herman and Julie Dubray, and illustrated
by Karen Heyse (see attached). It just came out in June 2013, and is a fantastic book that has been a huge seller at previous
book fairs. It is like the beloved "Goodnight Moon" book, but each page has beautiful illustrations of places
all around St. Louis, such as the Arch, City Garden, Ted Drewes, the Zoo, and Muny, with lovely rhymes
that go along with each picture. The cost is only $19.95 for this hardbound book, and it would make a wonderful
addition to your book collection, or perhaps as a gift for out of town company over the holidays. We will have
a copy in the library if you are interested in seeing it before the book fair. Don't miss out!!
In addition, please be aware that we accept credit cards, cash and checks (made payable to SPTG) at our
book fair. Our book fair will be open Friday evening 12/6, during Evening with Santa, as well as the following
week, Dec. 9-13th.
This week in curriculum we are continuing to work on Motion Geometry, congruent and similar figures, and translations (slides), rotations (turns), and reflections (flips). Look for anchor charts to come later.
In English language arts, we are continuing to work on making inferences. We are not going to get new Spelling words until next week.
Have a great week, and a wonderful Thanksgiving!
